Family Therapy

Family Therapy

Family therapy can take on many forms depending on each particular family’s constellation. No matter the form, it has the goal of helping to improve and deepen the relationships between family members and find solutions that helps the family function better as a unit. Dr. Robinson helps different types of families with this goal, those with young children, older children, where all members are adults, and sometimes with just a subset of family members, such as siblings or a parent and one child.

Dr. Robinson takes a neutral approach and assists members in discussing their concerns with one another, and facilitates agreements and improved understanding of one another. Additionally she evaluates the family dance which is the patterns of relating that have been developed over time. Often, especially if there has been a past crisis, an unhealthy dance exists between members. Dr Robinson joins with the family and helps guide them in learning new steps to create a healthy dance which is evidenced by a calmer environment, increased satisfaction for all members, and increases in trust and love.
